District Nurses

Nursing care is provided by our district nurses for people who are housebound.

Health Visiting Team

The aim of the Health Visiting Service is to promote individual, family and public health.

Health Visiting Teams across  Scotland are aiming to deliver the Universal Pathway.  This involves home visits from the antenatal to pre-school period.

The Health Visiting team can be contacted Monday to Friday 9am  - 5pm on:

Health Visitors

Health Visitors are qualified nurses with specialist training in public health and child development.

Two health visitors  are based at the Practice.

They work with your GP and other members of the Primary Care Team. The Health Visitor is responsible for prioritizing and allocating care to families with Preschool children.

Childhood Immunisations

Immunisations for children aged from 0-5 years is now provided by the Community Vaccination Team. More information can be found about this here.

The Health Visiting team offer support in the following areas:

Delivery of Universal Pathway and visits to include:- 

  • Getting it Right for Every Child (GIRFEC) programme.  See Red Book or ask Health Visitor for further details.
  • Family Health and well-being
  • Antenatal support in late pregnancy
  • Assessment and linking to local support
  • Referral to other services
  • Emotional Wellbeing
  • Parenting eg. toilet training, sleep, behaviour
  • Child health and development assessment
  • Accident prevention
  • Liaise with hospital and other professionals
  • Immunisation advice
  • Infant feeding and breastfeeding support. Web support on feeding your baby can also be found here
  • Child Protection Issues
Community Midwives

The community midwives run antenatal clinics for pregnant ladies. Following the birth of your baby they will visit you at home until the baby is ten days old.
