About the Practice

About us

The practice was established in 1927 and has grown steadily over the years. We moved to our own purpose built premises in 1993.

In trying to meet the challenges facing General Practice in the 21st century we are determined not to lose sight of the high standards of traditional family medicine. We are committed to people as individuals and determined to provide the best care possible.

We currently have over 10,000  patients registered with the Practice for general medical services.
Our team comprises of:
  • 10 doctors:
    • 6 GP partners
    • 1 salaried GP
    • 1  GP Specialist Training Registrar
    • 1 GP Retainer
  • 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner
  • 2 practice nurses
  • 3 district nurses
  • 2 health visitors
  • 3 phlebotomists
  • 11 administrative staff
All the doctors are involved in Postgraduate Medical Education. We are a Training Practice. Dr Walker and Dr Payne are our lead training GPs. A new registrar joins us from August until July each year. We also have 6th year medical students from Edinburgh University attached to the practice and are supervised by one of our GP's at all times

We are also the lead practice for providing medical care in Cluny Lodge Nursing Home.
